Michael Mifsud has turned the tide of opinion back in his favour at Coventry City after an energetic display against Aldershot in the League Cup on Wednesday.

‘We want Michael Mifusd to stay here and play with us,’ said manager Chris Coleman after bringing the striker in from the cold created by his summer transfer request.

‘If Michael keeps giving us that performance and that level of commitment only a fool would leave him out of the squad and I am not a fool.

‘As long as I get that from all of our players I will be happy.’

The ‘Mosquito’ certainly provided an element of pace on Wednesday that was missing from the workmanlike win over Norwich and may be the difference between the Sky Blues challenging for a play-off place and finishing in mid-table.

For his part, Mifsud is saying all the right things ahead of the transfer deadline.

‘I always had passion,’ he told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.

‘I was always happy here.

‘I am committed to Coventry and I try my best in whatever I do.’
