Jodi Jones, the undoubted star of Coventry City’s 2017/18 squad and the key man for the Sky Blues throughout much of the campaign to date, will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.

The difference in tight matches and the team’s creative spark, Jones’ injury is the second big blow to hit City’s promotion hopes after summer signing Tony Andreu barely got started on his Ricoh Arena career before sustaining a serious knee injury.

For a team that has struggled for goals, despite their encouraging first-half of the season, Jones’ absence will be keenly felt but it presents an opportunity for someone else to force their way into Mark Robins’ plans, starting this Saturday against Crawley Town.
