City’s 18/19 Schedule Confirmed

The League One fixtures for 2018/19 have been confirmed and Coventry City will open their campaign at home to Scunthorpe United on their return to the third tier of English football.

Sky Blues supporters get an early trip to Blackpool, albeit on a Tuesday evening, and the August date at Bloomfield Road is sure to be well-attended.

There’s little to fear from the fixtures with the step up from Leagues Two to One being much less of a climb than that from League One to the Championship.

Portsmouth, Plymouth, Doncaster Rovers and Blackpool came up from League Two in 2016/17 with three of the four subsequently finishing in the top-half of League One and Doncaster also ending up comfortably clear of the drop zone.

Sunderland are the clear favourites and should, if they get their act together, have more than enough to win the division but below the Black Cats it looks wide open.

Talking of fixtures and it is good to see the Sky Blues sending out an Under-23 side across the area during pre-season with matches scheduled against Bedworth United, Coventry Sphinx, Nuneaton Town and Tamworth and also against Coventry Copsewood for the Casper and Corey Memorial Cup on Friday 20 July with all proceeds going to the family and their chosen charities and causes.

Mark Robins side will also take on West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Saturday 28 July for the inaugural Cyrille Regis Memorial Trophy – another very worthy match for pre-season.
