Robert Page will take over from Stephen Hughes as Coventry City captain starting with Saturday’s home game against Derby County.

Boss Micky Adams said: ‘Robert is a vastly experienced player, both domestically and at international level, who is a natural leader on the pitch.

‘He commands a huge amount of respect from both young and senior players and I believe this is the right decision for the club moving forward.’

Adams added: ‘I’d like to thank Stephen for his contribution as skipper and hope that he continues to show the same level of commitment to the club moving forward.’

  • A decent switch I think. Hughes needs to concentrate on his game as he has been anonymous in recent weeks.

  • Shows that action is atlast being taken. As roberts said we have been off the pace…but I believe all season. The teams we have beaten have all had their troubles. Something must give; this season remains very uncertain.
