City trial for American defender

Coventry City have a trial to Portland Timbers defender Scot Thompson.

The Sky Blues, who made Adam Virgo their 11th signing of the summer earlier on Tuesday, were impressed by the 25-year-old when they played the Timbers in pre-season.

Thompson, formerly with MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy, had a trial with Sunderland last season.
