After playing with a hernia for four months, Coventry City skipper Carl Baker will undergo an operation this week and is hopeful of missing just one game of the Sky Blues’ season run-in.

Not an obvious choice for captain, Baker has led by example on the pitch with 14 goals and 15 assists this season. Always keen to get on the ball and always willing to try something even when it hasn’t been coming off in a particular game, he has carried the extra responsibility well and taken defeat personally.

Most notably in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy home game against Crewe he looked out on his feet at the end having created a host of chances in the first-half.

Out of the weekend trip to Portsmouth he is set to return for the Easter fixtures.
