Welsh international full-back Rhys Weston, linked last week with a move to Coventry City, believes he could be surplus to requirements at Championship rivals Cardiff.

The 25-year-old has a year left on his current contract, and knows the permanent signing of Dutchman Glenn Loovens could signal the end of his Bluebirds career.

‘It’s safe to say that things are bleak for me at the club,’ Weston admitted.

‘But any move away from Cardiff has to be right for the club and me.’

The former Arsenal trainee has made 213 appearances for Cardiff since joining the club in November 2000.
