The script was written prior to Coventry City’s League Two clash with Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday evening and the Sky Blues stuck firmly to it.

Rovers’ visit to the Ricoh Arena allowed for lots of comparisons about how far apart the two clubs had been, five or ten years ago, and defeat for the hosts would mark another new low for CCFC in their decline.

Unfortunately, Mark Robins’ side were unable to write a different story as they huffed and puffed for a third consecutive goalless game and failed to take even a single point after Keanu Marsh-Brown’s first-half script.

In itself it was just a run-of-the-mill defeat, of the kind all clubs have. City remain in a decent position in the league and haven`t become a bad team overnight following their earlier good run.

But the occasion, the crowd of a little over 6,000 and the defeat by a ‘village’ team does take another little bit of the soul away from Coventry supporters.
