Another Saturday and another hard-fought victory for Coventry City against one of League Two’s struggling sides as the Sky Blues secured a 2-1 win at Crewe Alexandra.

Jonson Clarke-Harris, although not officially credited with the opening goal, was again impressive for Mark Robins side as Tom Bayliss scored what was to prove the winning goal just before half-time.

The manager reserved special praise for goalkeeper Liam O’Brien, in for the ill Lee Burge and who took his chance between the sticks with aplomb.

‘Liam O’Brien made some world-class saves before they scored their goal. He showed good concentration and made few mistakes.

City will now look to repeat their feat against a Grimsby side just one place above the drop zone when they meet at the Ricoh Arena next Saturday.

Before then some of Robins’ fringe players will get their chance in CV6 as the Under 23’s host Huddersfield on Monday afternoon at 2pm with free admission for spectators.
