Trinidad & Tobago striker Stern John is ready to put a dent in England’s World Cup hopes this summer after continuing his excellent recent form for Coventry City over the Easter weekend.

John scored against both Luton and Leicester and now has 10 goals to his name since returning from a loan spell at Derby before Christmas.

He said: ‘I am enjoying my football now and hopefully I can take this into the World Cup and put Trinidad on the map.’

Trinidad & Tobago meet England on June 15 in Nuremberg.

John would not be the first Sky Blues striker to hit the target against England at a World Cup if he did score.

Viorel Moldovan was still (just) with City when he netted in Romania’s 2-1 win at France ’98.
