Coventry City manager Steven Pressley welcomed wide midfielder Danny Swanson to the club on Thursday, saying the 27-year-old Scot was an ‘exciting, technically gifted footballer.’

A two-year deal has been agreed for the former Dundee United man, a free agent after leaving Peterborough United recently.

Pressley hopes to sign ten new players before the season starts but his hopeful stance on keeping striker Callum Wilson has been loosened by the reality of £3m+ offers from Bournemouth and Norwich City.

The Championship clubs will now speak to the Coventry-born hotshot leaving the manager responsible for his rapid rise to prominence having to search for at least one and possibly two replacements.

Update Signing number two for the Sky Blues has been confirmed as Jim O’Brien, also a wideman and a free agent after the expiry of his Barnsley contract.

“He is a player of proven Championship quality and his energy, work rate and team ethic along with that quality makes him a perfect fit for us,” Pessley told the official CCFC website.
