Coventry City’s seventh new face of the summer is Manchester United’s versatile defender Reece Brown on a season-long loan from the Old Trafford giants.

The 20-year-old, described by Andy Thorn as ‘big and athletic’, can play either at the back or in midfield and has had previous loan experience at Bradford City, Doncaster Rovers and Oldham Athletic.

Brown, the younger brother of Wes, has yet to make his competitive debut for the Red Devils but he is sure to gain plenty of further game time at the Ricoh Arena in the 2012/13 campaign.

City’s signing spree has come as a pleasant surprise to most fans who feared another summer of inactivity in the transfer market and it has handed Thorn the competition for places that was sorely lacking at times in the early part of last season.

There have been the inevitable departures but the money received for Bigirimana and Keogh and freed up by the exit of Clingan and Cranie amongst others has been used to fund new signings and give the Sky Blues a shot at an immediate return to the Championship.
