Wolverhampton Wanderers have pulled out of a deal that would have seen striker Freddy Eastwood join Coventry City on loan with a permanent move to follow in the summer.

The former Southend United hotshot was Chris Coleman’s top target to boost the shot-shy Sky Blues attack before the transfer deadline.

Eastwood has failed to make an impact at Molineux but showed his quality with two goals for Wales on Wednesday night.

‘There’s nothing we can do,’ said Coleman.

‘The last 24 hours we’ve been chasing our tails and this is not great news.’
