Waiting for the end of the season to come is a familiar feeling for Coventry City supporters but, although they may seem a long time ago, the 2012/13 campaign has had its fair share of ups as well as downs and there has been a positive link between players and fans throughout.
Leyton Orient are the final visitors to the Ricoh Arena this season and Sky Blues skipper Carl Baker told the official club website: ‘I feel like the fans have stuck with the players throughout. They have always got behind them and we have shared plenty of moments this season, and I hope we can give them another to celebrate.
‘In the Johnstone Paint Trophy at home against Preston and all the away wins, the fans have had a lot to cheer about this season.’
Baker’s Complete
Baker is one of the players not fighting for his future at the club after an excellent season on a personal level but several of his teammates will be looking to show Steven Pressley their worth, albeit on a Ricoh surface not designed to showcase the finer points of a player’s technique.
Pressley, despite defeats in a trio of away games also played on poor pitches, told the Coventry Telegraph that he would continue pressing his side to play patient, passing football as he continues the task of building a side to challenge for promotion next season against the backdrop of off-field turmoil that has engulfed the club in recent weeks.
Opponents Orient still have play-off ambitions but manager Russell Slade knows they will have to improve on recent away performances at Scunthorpe and Colchester if they are to take the season to its final game.
