Coventry City assistant manager Tim Flowers is cautiously optimistic that the Sky Blues will land their ‘No.1’ transfer target this summer.

‘He is a player of great calibre and has got one or two Premier League clubs looking at him but I have spoken to him myself and he is a good honest lad and says he will ring me as soon as he knows what’s happening,’ Flowers told the Coventry Telegraph.

‘I can’t say too much at this stage but from the first day I came through the door at Coventry I threw his name into the equation because he is a very, very good player.

‘If he comes, and it is a big ‘if’, he will bring leadership, organisation and a rugged manliness, and I believe he would be a major coup and signal of our intent.’

The player is thought to be Andy Todd of Blackburn who still has a year left on his contract.

Wigan Athletic have also been linked with the centre-half.
