Coventry City manager Micky Adams felt his side were unlucky not to take a point out of the game at Molineux, and opposite number Mick McCarthy agreed.

‘Give credit to Wolves for the way they defended,’ said Adams after Elliott Ward’s own goal settled the game.

‘You cannot take it away from them.

‘Credit to my players for defending for the majority of the game without a left-back after David McNamee went off injured.

‘I don’t know if that had any bearing – we did look vulnerable at times but having said that our keeper did not have a save to make.’

McCarthy added: ‘We had to work hard as a team and we did.

‘I’m delighted with the three points – that’s six at home in three days – but I feel relieved and a little fortunate we got the win.

‘They played really well and probably deserved something but they didn’t get anything.’
