Coventry City were 3-0 winners against BYU Cougars in the second and final friendly of their trip to the USA on Tuesday night.

Held to 0-0 at haltime, the Sky Blues took the lead through Gary McSheffrey but then had to wait until the last few minutes before goals from Kevin Thornton and Andy Morrell sealed the win.

‘I thought our starters did a nice job,’ said BYU coach Chris Watkins.

‘They really competed well and settled down after the first 10 minutes.

‘We’re not as good as they are, but we went toe to toe with them for quite a while.’

‘I think our play and our attacking in the first half was a little bit sloppy,’ said City boss Micky Adams.

‘In the second half we picked up the play of the game a little bit better.’
