City Continue To (Pleasantly) Surprise

The most pleasing aspect of Coventry City’s Friday night away win at Sheffield United was that it looked unlikely to come when the home side hauled themselves level through Dave Kitson.

After the Sky Blues had dominated the opening 45 minutes they were pegged back by a home side determined to improve on a first-half display that had seen them booed off by their own supporters.

And when Kitson scored the equaliser it looked as though the Blades would go on to claim a vital three points. City, however, are made of increasingly stern stuff as this season enters its final months and have a confidence in the way they play that allows them to keep going forward and creating chances.

That led to Leon Clarke’s winner (and the visitors could have then had another) and an increasing momentum to the campaign that could yet see two visits to Wembley.

For now, City can enjoy a 32,000 sell-out at the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday night for the JPT area final safe in the knowledge that they have plenty to play in the final months of the season.
