Coventry City assistant manager Tim Flowers is hopeful that the Sky Blues will be able to wrap up at least one new signing this week after being assured that new investment in the club was on its way.

Robbie Simpson is set to join from Cambridge United while City are also well down the line with two signings fromother Championship clubs.

‘Iain and myself met with Paul Fletcher, Mal Brannigan and one or two others at the Ricoh where we had a long chat,’ Flowers told the Coventry Telegraph.

‘We need to get some bodies in and we are not 100 per cent sure what our budget is or is going to be but the chaps were really confident that the investors will be in place by the end of the month and then hopefully cash made available.

‘But we are also keen to bring a few players in before then if we can and have got two or three players who are close to being done.’
