Coventry City and Kevin Thornton have parted company, ‘by mutual consent’ according to a club statement, by termination of the player’s contract say the local press after Thornton was convicted of drink driving.

23 next week, Thornton made 50 league appearances for the Sky Blues, 31 of which came as a substitute.

His talent shone through at times, notably when given a run of games just after Chris Coleman’s arrival at the club, but a lack of focus and some off-field incidents mean Thornton is looking for a new club this summer, alongside hundreds of other free agent footballers.
