Coventry City begin their final preparations for the Championship season on Tuesday night when they travel to the B2net Stadium, home of last season’s League Two champions Chesterfield before Saturday’s game against Premier League newcomers Norwich City.

The Spireites earned a deserved reputation in 2010/11 for the attacking football they displayed on their own patch and despite the loss of top scorer Craig Davies this summer, crafty veteran Jack Lester and his fellow strikers will provide a good pre-season test for the Sky Blues backline.

Andy Thorn has stated that places are still up for grabs in his side but it is clear that the City boss already knows both his preferred formation and starting line-up for the opening day clash against big spending Leicester City.

‘I am quite happy with where we are at the moment,’ said Thorn after the weekend game with Kettering. ‘We just need to get the two 90 minutes under our belt now and stay injury-free.’
