As the Championship season approaches its business end clubs across the division are looking to strengthen with loan signings for the run-in to the campaign.

Millwall and Reading are both being linked with a move to sign Barnet defender Joe Devera in the summer. The 24-year-old can play both at right-back and in the heart of the back four and his manager Paul Fairclough believes him to be the best defender in League Two.

Veteran striker Robbie Blake has turned down the chance to join Norwich City’s promotion campaign and has said he is happy to fight for his place in the Bolton Wanderers side.

Nottingham Forest are also in the thick of the promotion race but manager Billy Davies has denied making an approach for Newcastle United midfielder Danny Guthrie.

David Cotterill is enjoying his time on loan at Portsmouth from Swansea City and would be happy to open talks about staying at Fratton Park for longer.

Not going anywhere at present however is striker Paul Hayes, a target for Derby County as Preston North End boss Phil Brown does not want to loan the player to one of their rivals in the league.
