Saturday’s Championship fixture at the Ricoh Arena was certainly enlivened by the presence of a larger than normal away following as around 3,000 Crystal Palace fans made the journey to support their team against Coventry City.

The idea of a ‘Palace on Tour’ day where Eagles fans choose one away fixture each season to gather in as large a number as possible is a cracking one that hopefully could take root amongst Sky Blues supporters.

Palace fans seemed to be having a good day despite the on-pitch result and it is that enjoyment of being a supporter and being part of a group that has gone out of the game to an extent over the past few years.

Big games sort themselves out of course and City took 6,000 to Birmingham recently but the idea of doing it for a run of the mill game at a ground where a large following can gather and enjoy themselves for no reason other than being supporters is a great one that Palace supporters should be congratulated for.
