Cardiff City are set to announce the loan signing of their former star Michael Chopra in time for this weekend’s game against QPR.

The £5m Sunderland signing is looking to get some regular first-team action while the Bluebirds have injuries to key strikers.

Chairman Peter Ridsdale earlier told BBC Sport Wales: ‘We’re concentrating on the Premier League and I’m hopeful we’ll have a Premier League striker in hopefully well before Saturday.’

Elsewhere in the Championship according to the fansfc website, Sheffield United and Derby want Chesterfield hotshot Jamie Ward.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth defender Herman Hreidarsson is attracting interest from former clubs Ipswich and Charlton.
