Coventry City manager Steven Pressley continues to run the rule over striker Marcus Tudgay during the club’s pre-season training camp in Northern Italy and was very impressed with what he saw in Monday’s win against an AS Roma B side.

New winger Jim ‘O’Brien has also praised Tudgay and said he hopes to be playing alongside him in the 2014/15 campaign.

Summer friendlies bring with them the regular appearance of ‘Trialist’ on teamsheets up and down the country as young hopefuls, exotic sounding foreign names and experienced professionals look to win contracts for the new season.

Tudgay, at 31 and with nearly 300 league starts to his name, is the type of trialist who probably doesn’t have to prove what he can do to Pressley more that he is fit enough to keep doing it and that he will be a good influence on the players around him.

City’s tour continues with a game against Serie A club Chievo Verona on Wednesday afternoon with new skipper Reda Johnson having now linked up with the squad after international duty.
