Lee Carsley is mulling over a number of selection issues for what could be his last game in charge of Coventry City as they take on Scunthorpe this weekend.

The trip to Glanford Park is the start of four games against struggling League One sides that offer the Sky Blues a last chance at making the play-offs.

Nathan Cameron’s place is under threat after a difficult afternoon against Swindon on Saturday while Callum Ball’s performances for the Under-21 team could see the Derby County loanee given a late chance to impress after struggling with injuries during his season at the Ricoh Arena.

While praising Cameron’s overall progress, Carsley told the Coventry Telegraph: “The thing with Nathan is that he`s still quite young for a defender and I think he does struggle with confidence at times and it’s important that when you think players are like that you bring them out of the firing line and protect them, so that’s probably one we`ll have to keep an eye on.”

One of the points raised at the Sky Blue Trust meeting this week was apparently the contribution of Gary McSheffrey to the team.

McSheffrey’s tally of two goals to date this season is disappointing (although he does have six assists) and it must be as frustrating to the player himself as to the supporters that he can no longer burst past defenders and into the area, a move that has brought him countless goals and penalties over the years, and we as fans are also influenced by having seen him at his peak and in a more successful team than this one.
