Coventry City travel to South Yorkshire on Friday night for a League One fixture that has plenty of importance in the race for a play-off spot with the Sky Blues (in 7th) currently four points behind the Blades (in 6th) although having played two games more than their hosts.

That both teams are talking about a top-six finish is testament to how well City have done since Mark Robins took over but also to a poor run of form since Christmas at Bramall Lane that has seen Danny Wilson’s side fall from their previously lofty perch.

The Blades’ record on their own patch reads played 14, won 6, drawn 6 and lost 2 but those defeats have come in the last two home games as both Hartlepool and Yeovil have taken the spoils away from South Yorkshire.

Speaking after the draw at Notts County in their last outing, boss Wilson said: ‘It’s quite clear there are areas we can do much better in and we`ll be working hard to ensure that situation is rectified.

‘There is a lot of football to be played yet but it is getting to the stage where you can really make a difference and stamp your mark.

‘Nobody is going to shy away from the areas we need to address. Nobody will be allowed to because that doesn’t serve any purpose.’

City, who are well-suited to playing away from home, will look to exploit any nerves from their hosts and stay in the mix for a top-six finish before turning their attention to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Area Final against Crewe next week.

***Update***Both sides are looking to wheel and deal ahead of the game as the transfer window prepares to close.

The Sky Blues are keen on Sheffield Wednesday forward Gary Madine, a one-time loanee at the Ricoh Arena, while the Blades, having lost Nick Blackman to Reading, also want a striker while set to bring in experienced midfielder Barry Robson.
