A rare away win for Coventry City on Sunday brought an admission from Burnley manager Steve Cotterill that his side had been below-par in their final game of the season.

‘We didn’t give it a go from the kick off and that’s why we didn’t win the game,’ he said after the 2-1 defeat.

‘If we don’t play with a high tempo, and play with the same passion, enthusiasm and drive that we have done that’s made us a decent team in April we won’t win.

‘So there’s a fair bit been learned today because the things that we have been good at over the last month and the first few months of this season, if we take stock, is what has made us a decent team at this level.

‘However, if we don’t do that and we think we can be sloppy with our passing, not do the distance with our running, not win our headers at important times, all the basics of the game, then we won’t win. And we didn’t to them today.’
