Callum Wilson has chosen to join Bournemouth ahead of Norwich City after both sides had bids for the striker accepted by Coventry City.

The Sky Blues will receive £2.25m initially for the player with goalkeeper Ryan Allsop and wide player Mohamed Coulibaly joining from the Cherries on a season-long loan.

It’s a sensible move by Wilson who, it is easy to forget, has only one full season of first team football behind him. Norwich have been busy in the transfer market already this summer following their relegation and have already signed two forwards in the shape of Lewis Grabban (from Bournemouth) and Kyle Lafferty.

The well-run South Coast club offers him the chance to continue his development at a higher level without the pressure of having to get a side straight back into the Premier League.

He will also be working once again with a young, impressive managerial figure in the shape of Eddie Howe.
