Bothroyd to be booed?

Monday’s Daily Mirror slightly over-estimates the impact Jay Bothroyd had on Coventry City fans during his 83 appearances for the Sky Blues.

It claims that the striker will face the ‘Sky Blues hate mob’ at Molineux on Tuesday night, with the fans who ‘used to idolise him’.

The report goes on to say that ‘the former Highfield Road hero left Coventry in bitter circumstances three years ago after falling victim to finance when the club crashed out of the Premiership.’

This is despite the fact that a) Bothroyd was never a hero of the fans, b) that he played only eight times in the Premiership for us, the majority of his appearances came in the following two seasons and c) his departure would have been virtually unnoticed other than the fact he landed a move to Serie A!
