Sam Allardyce was left to rue both missed chances in the first-half and what he felt was a refereeing mistake, while also giving Coventry City their due for a spirited fightback at Ewood Park on Saturday.

‘In the end, I’ve got no problems with the result, my problem is with not seeing teams off when we’ve got the opportunity,’ Allardyce told his club’s official website.

‘Our Achilles heel at the moment is not seeing teams off. We have also started to concede too many goals at home.

‘We conceded two against Manchester City, two against Bolton and another two here today.’

He added: ‘They’ve [Coventry] scored a good goal, but we’ve scored a perfectly good goal almost straight after and for some unknown reason it’s been disallowed.

‘I’m absolutely certain it’s not a foul [by Gael Givet], otherwise you would have hundreds of free-kicks awarded like that in every game.’
