Coventry City midfielder Chris Birchall is beginning to find his feet on loan to SPL side St Mirren.

The Trinidad & Tobago international netted in a reserve team game last week to earn a first start for the Buddies in the game against Kilmarnock at the weekend.

‘He’s maybe lacking a wee bit of fitness, he’s not played much football, but he’s quite direct, he’s got pace and he can deliver a good ball,’ said team-mate Hugh Murray after the 0-0 draw.

‘I think he caused Kilmarnock a few problems.

‘He gives us something a wee bit different when he gets the ball.

‘I think he moved to Coventry for £300,000 and of course he played in the World Cup, so I don’t think you do that if you’re not a good player.’
