Coventry City will be facing not only a West Ham side in good heart after an excellent start to the season next Saturday but also a travelling support numbering 6,300 at the Ricoh Arena.

Hailing some ‘staggering’ backing for his team this season to date, Hammers boss Sam Allardyce told his club’s official website: ‘We are going great.

‘We are second in the league and I am not sure I expected us to be there this quickly.

‘We have got there and we have to sustain it.’

23,968 watched the only other meeting of the two sides at the Ricoh Arena, an exciting League Cup tie in October 2007 when the Sky Blues just failed to add the scalp of the Hammers to that of Manchester United in the previous round of the competition.
