Just three points separate 6th placed Cardiff City from Sheffield United in 9th place in the Championship and the race for a play-off place takes centre stage on Tuesday night.

Cardiff travel to the Ricoh Arena to face the Sky Blues (8th) while the Blades host Blackpool(7th) in two important fixtures.

Middlesbrough, Doncaster Rovers, Preston North End and Barnsley will also consider themselves in with a chance of making the top six and will hope to make some ground up on Tuesday night.

Chris Coleman urged his side to give the play-offs their best shot after seeing them battle back from a goal down against Plymouth to move within two points of Cardiff, meaning they will leapfrog the Bluebirds with a win in midweek.

‘Why not mention the play-offs? Let’s go for it and if we get there by winning our games 1-0 I won’t care at all,’ said the City boss.

‘If you look at the table then this is a point gained.’
