Coventry City forward Leon Best is hoping for a good run in the Sky Blues side to boost his chances of playing for Ireland again.

The Nottingham-born 21-year-old has not been involved in the Eire set-up for a number of years and told the Irish Daily Star: “I don’t know what problem any Irish manager has about picking me but I’ve used the absence from the Irish squads to drive me on at club level.

“All the Irish lads at Coventry, like Jay Tabb and Mick Doyle, as well as my mates Mark Yeates and Darren Randolph are asking me what I have to do to get another cap.

“It’s a bizarre situation but that won`t stop me linking up with the squad if I’m selected.”
