Benefit of the doubt?

In a far reaching and revealing interview with the Mail Online, Coventry City Chairman Ken Dulieu expressed optimism over negotiations to secure 50% ownership of the Ricoh arena. He hopes to have positive news before Christmas.

We have been down this road before but maybe for one last time we have to give the owners and the board the ‘benefit of the doubt’. We have a superb manager and dedicated team who the fans are 150% behind them and it is support they need at every home game.

‘My difficulty is that I have to overcome a lot of hurdles for people to gain confidence in us,’ Dulieu has been quoted as saying.

‘The first stage towards gaining credibility is putting our own house in order to prove we can run a football club.

‘The second thing is: Have we the funds?

‘When I have those funds – and we are quite near that at present – then I will approach the Higgs Trust and Coventry City Council. We have an on-going dialogue with the Higgs Trust. We have had a very positive meeting with them.’

Let us hope that these words by Mr. Dulieu as reported in todays Coventry Evening Telegraph turn out to be true, what a Sky Blue Christmas present that would be.
