Battling City take the points

Coventry City kept themselves in the right half of the table with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

Despite not being anywhere near their best, Aidy Boothroyd’s side again showed that they are a different proposition to last season when this was surely a game they would not have taken three points from.

Michael Doyle netted the all important goal early in the second-half, shortly after Chris Iwelumo had the visitors best chance and after that the Sky Blues were relatively comfortable against a side who were in the Premier League just a few months ago.

Boss Boothroyd was spot on with his substitutions as City closed the game out and once again drew 100% from every single one of his players, despite the lack of quality football on display.

Reaction to follow on Vital Coventry.
