Narrowly beaten by Cambridge United at the weekend, Coventry City remain sixth in League Two ahead of Saturday’s visit to the Ricoh Arena of leaders Exeter City, the Grecians having maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable victory at home to Crewe Alexandra.

That made it 7 wins from 8 matches to date for Paul Tisdale’s side, the 44-year-old having recently won his very first Manager of the Month award after 11 years in charge at St James’ Park.

The Sky Blues defence has been solid for much of the campaign to date but Andy Turner of The Telegraph felt they struggled against Cambridge’s front two of Jabo Ibehre and Uche Ikpeazu on Saturday, both of the U’s strikers getting their names on the scoresheet.

Exeter are also finding joy with an attacking partnership, Reuben Reid pairing up with Liam McAlinden in a fruitful double-act.

‘I’m a striker playing up with a partner now – who’s equally as big a threat as me – so it means the two centre-halves have got two genuine threats up against them,’ said Reid, speaking to BBC Devon recently.
