A night to forget for Coleman

Chris Coleman was left with much to ponder after Coventry City lost the lead and the match to Reading on Monday night.

‘The second and third goals were poor and you can’t give good teams gifts,’ he said following the 3-1 reverse.

‘After that we looked sorry for ourselves and there only looked like one winner after we went behind.’

The manager was forced to shuffle his side due to injuries and will have to do so again for the visit of Nottingham Forest on Saturday with Scott Dann the latest doubt.

“Scotty`s injury is a real big worry for us and we will have to see how he is,’ added Coleman.

‘He is a great professional and it is rare to see him come off.

“We will just have to see what the scan reveals but it looked as if his shoulder popped out and then popped out again.

“We have lost a lot of players but we have to keep playing like we did in the first half because we made them uncomfortable. We have got what we have got in terms of fit players.’

For the home side, Steve Coppell praised the way Reading reacted to going behind.

‘They changed their shape which made it difficult and it was a tremendous free-kick to open the scoring,’ he said.

‘As soon as we have gone a goal down previously we have got really frantic and very anxious in the way we played.

‘But we kept on trying to do what we set out to do this evening and stayed calm.

‘We had some fortune with two of the goals but if you put defenders in situations where they have to make decisions then you will get that at this level.’
