A good start for the Sky Blues

With early goals in each half from Freddy Eastwood, City started the new campaign in the Championship with a workmanlike and organised team performance over a very poor Portsmouth side.

City were in control for the whole 90 minutes and it was only in the 93rd minute that Pompey had their only shot on target. Starting with the surprise defensive pairing of Ben Turner and Nathan Cameron and having the strongest subs bench seen for many a long day, the Sky Blues gave the majority of the 18,800 plenty to feel good about.

Next is a visit on Tuesday to Morecambe to help open their new stadium and hopefully progress to the next round of the league cup.
