07 April 2001 saw Coventry City pull off a rare win in a season that would end in the Sky Blues losing their proud status as a top-flight side.

The belated arrival of John Hartson from Wimbledon after earlier medical problems had finally given Gordon Strachan’s side the kind of talismanic figure they had been badly lacking throughout the campaign and the big striker inspired a 3-1 victory at Leicester, sparking hopes that yet another great escape could be pulled off at Highfield Road.

Hartson’s link-up with record signing Craig Bellamy came too late to save the Sky Blues however and relegation was confirmed just a few short weeks later.

The story of the next ten years has been one of financial woe off the field and almost constant disappointment on it as City have done little but tread water in the Championship.

Can things only get better? Here’s to the Sky Blues still being here in ten years time!
