Coventry City will be the Championship`s longest serving club next season following the relegation of Preston North End, the 2011/12 campaign being their 11th in a row in the second tier of English football.
2005/06 is easy to pinpoint as the most successful season for the Sky Blues during their decade in the Championship as Micky Adams fashioned a side that played positively throughout the campaign, were tough to beat in their new Ricoh Arena home and made a late run up the table to finish 8th.

Things started slowly as City got to grips with their new surroundings but, just as it looked as though another season of struggle was on the cards the arrival of two veterans kick-started the campaign into life. Don Hutchison came first before Adams sprung a surprise by signing Dennis Wise, the man he had booted out of the Walkers Stadium while Leicester City boss.
Those two together with the attacking threat of McSheffrey, Adebola and Stern John (back in favour after a loan spell at Derby) sparked an upturn in fortunes and interest around the city. Over 26,500 watched City beat Wolves in the first game of 2006 before over 28,000 came to the FA Cup tie against Middlesbrough.
Home fans saw only 4 defeats all season and 39 City goals from 23 games with hopes high that the following campaign would be even better.
